This one is perfect to keep your toddlers occupied for a long period of time, but it can get messy so I do suggest taking it outside. **This post may contain affiliate links. A small commission may be earned.**
If this is your first time here, I am always looking for activities and crafts that my toddler can do and do for a good amount of time. I hate when I see a toddler craft or activity, but there is no way my toddler would be able to do it by herself. So my goal is to find and create activities that my toddler can do without my constant help. I’m just a tired mom, looking for a little break in the middle of the day ya know? Bonus points because my toddler absolutely loves it.
My toddler has loved this one and it is so easy to adjust for different personalities or seasons/holidays. Check out the Halloween version we did!
What you need:
– Cupcake tin
– Figurines (We have the Mickey and Friends Little People in the picture)
– Food Coloring (we use the dye free, opt)
– Droppers
- Start by freezing your figurines in your colored water in the cupcake tins. It’s okay if they’re sticking out a little bit, it might entice your toddle to want to rescue them even more. I usually prep this the night before and bring it out around lunch.
*Alternative, you can freeze several toys in one large bowl as well! - Fill a cup with some warm water (you can add salt to speed up the melting too, just be sure to watch your toddler for this part).
- I have my toddler take them outside and in a cake tin.
- Let your toddler use the dropper to try and rescue their toys from the ice.
You can give your toddler other tools or a spray bottle instead of a dropper. We usually do this outside in the sun and it occupies my toddler for at least an hour trying to get all her toys saved from the ice!
