Whether you have a sensitive little one, you’re trying to cut out unnecessary ingredients, or you’re trying to save some money – these wipes are so easy to make and so affordable! **This post may contain affiliate links. A small commission may be earned.**
If you don’t know me, I am not an overly “crunchy” mom. I do however like to do what I can when it comes to toxins in my home and when it comes to saving money! These wipes are about a $50 investment upfront, but they end up making so many wipes!
To be completely upfront I had been putting this off for months and months thinking it was going to be a headache of a process. Oh my goodness was I wrong! These wipes are so easy to make and I love how durable they are. The entire process from start to finish takes less than 10 minutes. I only make two containers of wipes at a time because there are no toxins or preservatives you don’t want to make too much in advance.
Even with two little toddlers and one more on the way, I don’t find this process to be overly tedious. Usually I make another batch when I get down to about half in one pack of wipes.
Feel free to adjust the recipe to your liking – just be sure you are using boiled water or distilled water.
Everything You Need:
– Disposable Dry Cloths
– Reusable Containers
– 1 tbsp Dr. Bonner’s Castile Soap (Unscented)
– 1 tbsp Coconut Oil
– Essential Oils (opt, I personally don’t use any)
– 2 cups boiled or distilled water
These directions will make two containers of wipes. You don’t want to make too many ahead of time, but these are so quick and easy to make it’s no problem!
- Boil 2 cups of water.
- Scoop 1 tbsp of coconut oil (it’s okay if its solidified. Put the coconut oil and boiled water in a casserole dish and let the coconut oil melt.
- Add 1 tbsp of Dr Bonner’s Castile Soap and combine.
- OPTIONAL – Cut your wipes in half. I personally don’t do this, but I’ve heard many who do. This might add a minute or two to your time, but it’s just your preference.
- Place two packs of your dry wipes in a cake pan or casserole dish and let them soak up the soapy water. The dry wipes I bought come individually packaged in the perfect amount for a container of wipes.
- Place the wipes in your containers. And you’re done and ready to use your wipes.
- Once you have finished a container of wipes, be sure to rinse it out and keep it open to let it completely dry before filling again.
Use the wipes like you would any other baby wipe. I find these to be the perfect wetness for my preference. If you want to switch up the soap or water ratio – it’s totally up to you. Just be sure you are using boiled or distilled water. When you empty a container, be sure to rinse and fully dry them before storing or using again. It’s seriously that easy.
This has been so great for my baby’s sensitive skin and I love that it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to make them. I hope you find them to be as easy to make as I do!
