Easy Toddler Activity: Color Sticker Match

This is one of my go-to rainy day activities — perfect when you need just five minutes to yourself to sip a hot coffee or get a quick chore done. The best part? You probably already have everything you need at home.
Supplies
- A piece of paper or cardboard
- Markers
- Colored Label Stickers
How to Set It Up
- Choose your colors – Choose four colors, usually I cut the sticker sheet so those are the only colors available. To make it easier for little hands, peel the backing off the sticker sheet before they start. (You can also use white stickers and just color them!)
- Draw matching lines – On your paper or cardboard, draw four types of lines (wavy, straight, zigzag, dotted) in the same four colors as the stickers.
- Match and stick – If needed, show your toddler how to match each sticker color to its matching line, then let them take the lead!
While we play, I like to name the colors and talk about the different types of lines. This helps with color recognition, fine motor skills, and early pre-writing skills. But if you’re just looking to sit down and let them go at it, that’s great too.
A Gentle Reminder
It doesn’t have to be perfect. The goal here is for your toddler to have fun while you get a moment to yourself. If the stickers end up all over the paper, or the floor, that’s okay! One day they’ll get the hang of matching, but for now, exploration is the win.
