It’s still hot for us, but I am ready for fall and all the pumpkins and ghosts and fun. So we decided to do a fun outdoor activity of “spray painting” ghosts while the weather is still warm.
What you need:
– Cardstock
– Spray Bottles (we love these ones)
– Paints (our favorite washable paints)
Let’s get crafting!
Like I mentioned, you’ll want a nice day outside to be able to do this activity.
– Mix your paints into your spray bottles. I do about a 1:3 paint to water ratio. You want the paint to be thin enough to come out of the spray bottle, but potent enough to see the color on the paper.
– Cut out the shapes you want to stay white on your painting. We did ghosts, but you could do pumpkins, leaves, whatever you want!
– Tape your cut out shapes onto a new piece of cardstock with painters tape.
– Take the cardstock outside and let your toddler spray the whole thing. At this stage, I find it best to have the paper on the ground, so the excess water doesn’t run too much. But remember, it’s about the fun and the activity. It doesn’t have to turn out perfect, as long as your little one is having fun!
– Let the cardstock dry and then peel off your shapes to uncover your pictures!
– Outline them with sharpie and add any details you want.
My toddler loved the spraying part of this activity so much. When we do it again I will likely set up multiple papers for her to be able to spray so she can keep painting. It would be so fun to set up and create Christmas cards this way, stay tuned because we might just do it!
