Five easy Valentine’s Crafts and Activities to do with your toddlers and preschoolers this February. You should have all the supplies you need already on hand too. **This post may contain affiliate links. A small commission may be earned.**
When it comes to activities and crafts, Valentine’s Day has some of my favorites for sure. I love hearts and so does my toddler so it’s so much fun to do all kinds of crafts with them. The best part about the paper crafts is you can easily turn them into keepsakes and Valentines to give to the special people in your life.
This year I had a newborn baby so I also did an actual keepsake that turned out so cute. I did this Valentine’s Floral Keepsake with a floating frame and dried flowers. You could totally do it with toddler feet or a handprint as well. I am a sucker for the dried flower keepsakes – this Mother’s Day one is my absolute favorite.
Keepsakes can be a little more time consuming though, but these activities are a lot easier to do with your toddlers. You should have most of the supplies you need for all of the activities, if not it’s super easy to grab at your local craft store or Amazon!

Window Clings
What you need:
– Tissue Paper
– Contact Paper
– Cardstock/Construction Paper
– Cricut (optional – my review and favorite Cricut machine here)
– Scissors
- Decide what shapes you want to do for your window clings. LOVE, XOXO, Hearts are all great ideas for Valentine’s Day! Cut out the outlines with your Cricut or with scissors if you don’t have them. You will want two of each outline for each outline.
- Cut your tissue paper into 1 x 1 inch squares in the colors you want (pink, red, white, etc).
- Cut two rectangular pieces of contact paper for each window cling. Make sure the outlines completely fit in the rectangles.
- Place one outline onto one piece of contact paper. Have your toddler lay all the pieces of tissue papers on the contact paper. It’s okay if they don’t all make it into the outline, you’ll cut around it at the end.
*Try to have the tissue pieces be as flat as possible* - Once the outline is all filled in place the second outline on top of the first. Then lay the second piece of contact paper over everything.
- Cut off the excess conctact paper and place on a clean window.
*spray a tiny amount of water or window cleaner to the window cling to help it stick better*
Color Sort Hearts
What you need:
– Colored construction paper or white paper and colored markers
– Conversation Heart Candies
- Cut out hearts in the same colors as your conversation hearts. If you don’t have conversation hearts you can make your own. Cut out smaller hearts in the same colors and write Valentine’s messages on them!
- Have a bowl or pile of conversation hearts and have your toddler sort the conversation hearts by color.
Tie Dye Heart
What you need:
– Cardstock
– Tissue Paper
– Paintbrush
– Water
- Cut out a couple large hearts from the cardstock.
- Cut out 1 x 1 inch squares of tissue paper in colors you want, we did pinks and red.
- Have your toddler place squares onto the cardstock and paint them with water. Make sure they are covered with water – you’ll want the water to seep through the tissue paper to the cardstock.
- Cover the entire heart with the tissue squares and water. Move it aside and let it fully dry.
- Leave as a tie dye hear or make it a cute Valentine for someone!
Tissue Paper Heart Valentine’s
What you need:
– Cardstock
– Sharpie
– Tissue Paper
– Glue
- Cut your cardstock in half and then fold in half to create a card.
- Cut 1 x 1 inch squares of tissue papers in your preferred colors.
- Draw several Valentine’s sayings on the font of the cards. Try to have hearts in each for your toddler to decorate.
- Have your toddler crumple the 1 x 1 squares into balls and then glue them onto the hearts.
- Make sure all the pieces are pressed down into the glue so they don’t easily fall off.
- Let them dry fully.
- Write on the insides and send the Valentine’s to family and friends!
Magic Conversation Hearts
What you need:
– Cardstock
– White Crayon
– Water Color Paint
– Sharpie
- Draw several hearts on your cardstock with sharpie.
- Inside the hearts write conversation hearts sayings with white crayon.
(XOXO, LOVE U, BE MINE) - Have your toddler paint the hearts to reveal the magic message!
