DIY Window Clings – Christmas!

A fun DIY to do with your toddler this holiday season! Make it your own or grab an outline on Canva, either way these are bound to be a hit with your toddler. **This post may contain affiliate links. A small commission may be earned.**

Holiday window clings remind me of childhood, we always had the sheet of them that we would reuse every year. This activity is a fun spin on that because you can still reuse them every year, but now they’ll be handmade by your kiddos!

This activity is pretty easy to do, the biggest thing you’ll want to look out for is keeping the tissue paper as flat as you can on the contact paper. My three year old had no issues with this, but it’s definitely not something my 18 month old could do.

Once the window clings are made and sealed, they would be great fun for both toddlers to stick and unstick from the window or a mirror!

What you need:
– Contact Paper
– Tissue Paper
– Construction Paper

  1. Cut out your outline of your shape with construction paper (I used black but you could do any color). If you want your window cling to be outlined on both sides (facing outside and facing inside) you’ll need to do this twice.
*If you don’t trust your artistic abilities – use Canva to find some outlines you can print out instead!
  2. Cut out two pieces of contact paper the size of your outlined shape. Place one outline on the sticky side of one of the contact papers you’ve cut
  3. Cut up various colored tissue paper into small squares (approx 1 inch).
  4. Let your toddler decorate their window cling by placing their tissue squares all over the sticky contact paper. This doesn’t need to be perfect, but try to have them keep the tissue paper flat to insure the best sticking to the window.
  5. Once your toddler is done filling all the space with tissue paper, place the second outline piece on top (this step is optional). Then cover the entire shape with another piece of contact paper.
  6. Cut around the outline. There should be no sticky parts, basically it should be like a laminated craft.
  7. Use a little water to let your toddler stick the cling to a clean window.

I love that these are so easy to make personalized for your toddler’s interest or the holiday season. I hope you love it as well. Check out more activities that are perfect for a rainy day here.

A little reminder, you’re doing a great job. xx Ciara
